tämpring (tæmpring): 1) styrande, kuvande, dämpande, stillande. lkom thu som är hwila j ärfuodheno, j brunanom tämpringh SvB 28 (omkr. 1520). 2) måtta, måttlighet; återhållsamhet, självbehärskning. mz siwfallo dygdinna krono, thz är mz tronne, hopeno, kärlekenom, rätuisonne, starkhetinne, tempringinne (temperantia), aff hwilkom andra dygdhir wtgangna SpV 136. " ok at the ey skulu löpa bort aff rätta wäghi, ok tith som owägadh är. . skal tempringen ok mattelikhetin matta ok atskilia" ib 137.
