benämna (benæmna): 3) förordna, beordra. " han. .. mener en dels, ath honom ther wdi förstakkot skeer, ath han bland andra goda män. .. skal alitiit först benämpnas i rekesens tiänest" BSH 5: 304 (1508). - Jfr forbenämder.

Orthography: Early Old Swedish used different letters for ä and ö, so benämna may have also been written as benæmna
