återhållsam, nykter. " swa rädh oc sancte pädher oc sagdhe, varin söftelike oc vakin (Jfr 1Petr. 5: 8: sobrii estole et vigilate), thy at owenen diäfwulin gar som riwtande leon oc söke hwem han matte swälghia" Hel män 106. Jfr söftelikhet, söftidhelikhet och söftogher (Sdw 2: 604) samt subtilighen (Sdw 2: 544).

Orthography: Early Old Swedish used different letters for ä and ö, so söfteliker may have also been written as søfteliker
